Early Life

Edwin Hubble was born in 1889 in Missouri, USA. As a boy, he loved reading, sports, and learning about the night sky. He was curious about many things and enjoyed asking big questions about how the world worked.

Edwin was a strong student and went to college to study many subjects, including math and science. He also loved running and even competed in track and field. His wide interests helped him become a well-rounded thinker.

Studying the Stars

After school, Edwin decided to focus on astronomy, which is the study of space and stars. He studied at famous universities and learned how to use powerful telescopes. These tools helped him look far into space and see things no one had seen before.

He worked at the Mount Wilson Observatory in California, which had one of the biggest telescopes in the world at the time. This telescope allowed Edwin to observe distant galaxies clearly.

Amazing Discoveries

Edwin Hubble made a discovery that changed how people understand the universe. He found that many fuzzy objects in the sky were actually galaxies, not clouds of gas inside our own galaxy. This meant the universe was much larger than people had believed.

He also discovered that galaxies are moving away from each other. This showed that the universe is expanding, like a balloon being blown up. This idea helped scientists learn more about how the universe began.

Legacy

Because of Edwin Hubble’s work, astronomy grew into an even more exciting science. His discoveries helped answer big questions about space and time. Many scientists still use his ideas today.

The Hubble Space Telescope was named after him to honor his achievements. This telescope has taken amazing pictures of space and continues to help us learn about the universe.

Why He Inspires Us

Edwin Hubble teaches us that curiosity and hard work can lead to incredible discoveries. By looking up at the stars and asking questions, he helped the whole world understand our place in space.
