Early Life

Al-Khwarizmi was born around the year 780 in a region called Khwarazm, in Central Asia. He lived during a time known as the Islamic Golden Age, when learning and discovery were highly valued. From an early age, Al-Khwarizmi was interested in numbers, patterns, and the stars. His curiosity helped him become a respected scholar who wanted to share knowledge with the world.

A Place of Learning

Al-Khwarizmi worked in Baghdad at a famous center of learning called the House of Wisdom. Scholars there translated books from many languages and made new discoveries. This exciting place allowed Al-Khwarizmi to work with other great thinkers, such as those who came before Ibn Sina and Omar Khayyam.

Amazing Achievements

Al-Khwarizmi is best known for helping create algebra, a branch of math that shows how to solve problems step by step. The word “algorithm” comes from his name. Algorithms are step-by-step rules used in math and computers today. Every time a computer follows instructions, it is using an idea connected to Al-Khwarizmi.

He also worked on astronomy, helping make star charts and improve calendars. In geography, he helped update maps and described different regions of the known world.
