Early Life

Pelé was born on October 23, 1940, in a small town in Brazil called Três Corações. His real name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, but everyone called him Pelé. His family did not have much money, so he learned to be creative and strong from a young age.

As a boy, Pelé loved soccer more than anything. He often played barefoot in the streets and made balls from socks or old newspapers. Even without fancy equipment, his talent was easy to see.
