Osamu Tezuka

Early Life

Osamu Tezuka was born in Japan in 1928. When he was a child, he loved to draw pictures and watch movies, especially animated films.

He was very curious about the world and enjoyed science and nature. These interests later helped him create stories full of imagination and heart.

Loving Art and Learning

Tezuka was very talented and worked hard in school. He studied medicine and earned a medical degree, which means he was trained as a doctor.

Even though he could have chosen a career in medicine, his love for drawing and storytelling was stronger. He decided to follow his dream and become an artist.

Becoming the Father of Manga

Osamu Tezuka helped change manga, which are Japanese comic books. He made manga more exciting by using movie-like scenes, close-up faces, and lots of emotion.

One of his most famous characters is Astro Boy, a friendly robot boy who wants to help humans. Astro Boy became popular all over the world and inspired many kids.

Animation and Big Ideas

Tezuka didn’t just make comics. He also helped create some of the earliest Japanese animated TV shows, which are called anime.

Working Very Hard

Osamu Tezuka was known for working long hours and drawing an enormous amount of art. Over his lifetime, he created around 700 different manga series and story titles.
