Sally Ride

Early Life

Sally Ride was born on May 26, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. As a child, she was curious and loved learning new things. She enjoyed science, reading, and sports, especially tennis.

Sally was a great student and liked to ask questions about how the world worked. Her parents supported her interests and encouraged her to follow her dreams. This helped Sally believe she could do anything she worked hard for.

Learning and Education

Becoming an Astronaut

On June 18, 1983, Sally Ride made history by flying into space on the space shuttle Challenger. She was only 32 years old and became the first American woman in space.
