Saint Paul the Apostle

Early Life

Saint Paul was born with the name Saul in a city called Tarsus, which is in today’s country of Turkey. He grew up in a Jewish family and learned a lot about the laws and traditions of his people. Saul was very smart and loved learning, especially reading and discussing ideas.

As a young man, Saul believed strongly in his ideas and wanted to protect his faith. At first, he did not understand or accept the message of Jesus, and he even opposed early Christians. But his life changed in a surprising way that helped him see the world differently.

A Big Change

One day, while traveling on a road to Damascus, Saul had a powerful experience that changed his heart and mind. After this moment, he chose a new path and became a follower of Jesus. He began using the name Paul, which was a Roman name he already had, especially when traveling outside Jewish communities.

Paul learned that people could be kind, forgiving, and loving to one another. This new message made him excited to help others understand these ideas too.

Travels and Teaching

Saint Paul became a great traveler. He journeyed to many cities around the Mediterranean Sea, such as Athens, Corinth, and Rome. Everywhere he went, he taught people about faith, kindness, patience, and caring for others.

Paul also wrote many letters to help new Christian communities. These letters explained how people could live good lives, help their neighbors, and work together peacefully. Some of these letters are still read today in the Bible.
