Ke Huy Quan

Early Life

Ke Huy Quan was born on August 20, 1971, in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. As a child, he and his family left Vietnam as refugees and eventually settled in the United States in search of safety and new opportunities.

He grew up in California and learned English while adjusting to a brand-new culture. Even though life was challenging at times, Ke stayed curious, hardworking, and hopeful.

Becoming a Movie Star

Ke Huy Quan’s life changed when he was chosen for a movie audition as a child. He was cast in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, playing the brave and clever Short Round.

Soon after, he appeared in the fun adventure movie The Goonies. Kids around the world loved his energy, humor, and big smile.
