Meet Daveed Diggs
Early Life
Daveed Diggs was born on January 24, 1982, in Oakland, California. He grew up in a family that loved learning, and his parents encouraged him to read, think, and be creative. As a kid, Daveed enjoyed writing poems and playing sports, especially track and field.
In school, Daveed was very curious and hardworking. He liked words and ideas, and he also enjoyed performing in front of others. These interests would later help him become a successful performer and writer.
Education and Love for Words
Daveed went to Brown University, where he studied theater and literature and earned a degree in theater arts. Big Break in Hamilton
Daveed Diggs became world-famous when he joined the Broadway musical Hamilton. In the show, he played two very different characters: Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. Both roles required fast rapping, strong acting, and lots of energy.
His performance was so impressive that he won a Tony Award in 2016, which is one of the biggest honors in theater. Many people admired how he made history exciting and fun through music.

After Hamilton, Daveed continued to act in movies and TV shows. He appeared in films like Wonder and voiced Sebastian the crab in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid (2023). He also starred in the TV series Snowpiercer.
