Cate Blanchett (born 1969) is an Australian actress who became famous from the 1990s to today. The single most important thing about her is her amazing skill at becoming very different characters.

She played Galadriel, the shining elf queen, in The Lord of the Rings. She also played Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth and portrayed Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. She has won two Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actress for The Aviator and Best Actress for Blue Jasmine.

Cate trained at Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art and later helped lead the Sydney Theatre Company, making plays and supporting other actors. She works on both stage and screen.
