Early Life

Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, India (the city is now called Prayagraj). His father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a famous poet, and his mother, Teji Bachchan, loved learning and culture. Growing up, Amitabh enjoyed reading, acting, and listening to poetry at home.

As a young boy, he was tall and shy, and he did not always feel confident. He went to good schools and later studied at college. Even though his family was well-known, Amitabh had to work hard to find his own path.
